Mustafa "Dumbledoge" Kemal Gokselo?lu has become a fan favorite the past two years. He’s often remembered as the support who killed Lee “Faker” Sanghyeok, drawing first blood at the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational with Be?ikta? e-Sports Club.
This year, Dumbledoge’s performance had quite a bit more grit to it than a mere claim to first blooding Faker. SuperMassive turned a lot of heads, entering the tournament with no one expecting them to take a game. They not only managed to take one win off of the tournament’s eventual second place team, Counter Logic Gaming, but even in their losses they showed to be a strong competitor that could not easily be dismissed.
Turkish Champions League begins in a week, and Dumbledoge and SuperMassive have high ambitions. They’ll be starting their run for the opportunity to play for the IWC in the 2016 World Championship, but before then we were able to get to know Dumbledoge a bit better.
What originally got you into video games and League of Legends?
My mother always says that when I first went to an arcade, I was still in diapers and that’s how I started to play video games! When I was 4, I got my first Playstation and we used to play with my mom every day. When I was 17, a friend suggested to me League of Legends. At first I didn’t like it at all --. I actually hated it. One year later I tried again and I’m playing since then.
What motivated you to get into competitive play and has that motivation changed over time?
As a gamer, I wanted to achieve something and actually be successful. So I was really passionate to get into competitive play. I’m glad I started with a really good team and org in my rookie year. This is my second year and I love being a pro player!
In your competitive career, what’s been the point where you felt the best about yourself as a player?
I think it was the time when I played on the stage for the first time. During my first game, I hit a hook at a level 1 invade and we got the kill. Everyone was cheering. I’m a cold-blooded person and I don’t get excited easily, but I have never felt more alive!
How do you feel about your performance at the 2016 MSI compared to last year?
Definitely much better! Last year, we were just there to have fun and we didn’t have a chance to compete, but this year we were much stronger and overall I’m really happy with my performance. I didn’t have any bad game and I also had some really good games, such as the CLG game!
What is your favorite and least favorite champion?
My favourite champion is definitely Bard! My least favorite champions are Braum and Alistar. (so boring).
What do you think of Season 6 so far, especially since the mid season patch with the changes to dragon, etc?
It feels so weird after every big change, but after you get used to it, you start to have fun again. I really like the dragon changes. Ocean is my favourite to be honest. As a support, I can say that only Zyra is available at bot lane among the mages. And Taliyah is also really good as support.
What changes in the game would you most like to see?
I would like to see new supports champion to be honest, but with interesting kits like Bard,Taliyah or Tahm Kench. Not like Alistar.
What people have influenced and helped you the most in becoming a better player?
Definitely my parents. They never tried to drag me down and they always supported me. They never expected this thing to be this big. Now they are really proud of me.
What are your hopes for the future?
As every Wildcard player, I hope to play in a big region one day! I would love to play in NALCS. But before that, my biggest hope is to be in 2016 Worlds as Supermassive.
Any messages you would like to give to your international fans?
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me so far. I will like I reach to more people after every international event and I will do my best to not disappoint anyone :)) <3
