Apex 2015 breaks tournament entry records for multiple installments in the Super Smash Bros. franchise

The Apex tournament series has always had lots of prestige in the Super Smash Bros. community. Players from all over the world have traveled to the tournaments over the years. Apex 2015 has taken that prestige further by breaking entry numbers in multiple games in the franchise. Currently, it is the largest Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament of all time while also being the largest North American Super Smash Bros tournament of all time.

Currently, the cap for the Super Smash Bros. Melee 1v1 tournament has been reached at 1024 people. That number would likely be even higher if the cap wasn't 1024, which is insane considering Melee was released over a decade ago and is played on inferior technology. At the time of writing this, Super Smash Bros. has 188 people registered for 1v1. The newest installment in the series. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, has 829 entrants for the 1v1 tournament.

With Nintendo officially sponsoring Apex and tournament entry records being broken, 2015 seems to be destined to be a fantastic year for Smash.
