CLG picks up CS:GO team formerly known as MouseSpaz

Counter-Logic Gaming (CLG) today announced a further expansion to their FPS roster with the acquisition of a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team (CS:GO), effectively immediately. The roster formerly known as MouseSpaz has taken a slightly more respectable moniker in CLG, a team with a long and storied eSports history in general, and CLG will be hopeful their new line-up can make an immediate impact by winning their first match, scheduled for 12pm MST on the 23rd January.

That game is part of an event featuring teams like Cloud 9, Ninjas in Pajamas and Dignitas Gaming, and this recent expansion to include titles like Halo and CS:GO has seen CLG, one of the original professional League of Legends outfits, further expand their reach into eSports overall. The team is comprised of Stephen ‘reltuC’ Cutler, James ‘Hazed’ Cobb, Peter ‘ptr’ Gurney, Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik and Pujan ‘FNS’ Mehta, and CLG are clearly excited about the potential both on-screen, and in their bank accounts, stating in their press release that ‘[due to] a considerable uptick in talent, events and organization Counter-Strike is poised to become one of the top FPS titles in esports over in 2015’.

Joining such a massive team has the players excited, with Hazed giving a good indication of what it means to have an outfit like CLG pick them up. “Today is one of the greatest days of my life – I’m CLG. After following the LoL scene for so long and being a CLG fan for so long, it’s almost like a dream come true”, and his team-mate ptr was equally stoked. "This is has been a life long goal for me, to be a part of CLG is a dream. Everyone on the team is super excited to be with them and we are gonna work harder than ever to live up to the name.”

As CLG mentioned themselves, CS:GO is a growing area, and the moves by teams like Counter-Logic into it only goes to show that. A lot of pressure comes with playing for a big team in any game, and this will be no exception as CLG look to build on their lineage and bring their brand to a new set of fans.
