League of Legends – Update to Seasonal Changes Underway

EsportsHeaven 2025-02-27 02:23:54
Recently, Riot Games has been under scrutiny for some changes that have occurred heading into the most recent patch. Here's an excerpt of the press release:

Today, the League of Legends team released a new Dev Update video, where Andrei "Meddler" van Roon and Paul "Pabro" Bellezza shared about upcoming changes coming to League based on recent player feedback. Here’s what they covered:

  • Recently, the team has made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. In listening to players’ feedback, it’s clear that there are areas where adjustments are needed.

  • Hextech Chests are coming back.

    • Starting in Act 2, which is the patch next week, players will be able to earn up to ten Chests and Keys per Act.

    • Eight will be spread throughout the free Pass instead of the Seasonal skin and the 1350 or Lower Skin, in response to player feedback.

    • The other two will be earnable through the Honor system.

    • For transparency, Hextech Chests will be the exact same Chests as the ones players received previously through Champ Mastery.

  • The Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% as of next patch.

    • This change should especially help newer players build out their champion roster, making the game more accessible and, in turn, helping League continue to thrive long-term.

  • The Sahn Uzal Mordekaiser skin is being delayed so that the team can ensure it better delivers on its core fantasy.

    • The team is also taking more time to improve all future Exalted skins, so it’s likely that players won’t see one in every Act this year as originally planned.

  • One of the the non-Prestige skins on the paid Seasonal Pass will be replaced with 25 Mythic Essence.

    • This change comes in response to players’ concerns about the lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the amount of skins being made for each Seasonal theme.

    • For Act 2, the skins slated to be on the paid Pass will be Darius, Sion, and Talon.

  • Clash will return to a monthly schedule, with ARURF as March’s Clash event and the regular Summoner’s Rift as April’s.

    • This change comes as a result of player feedback after the team announced in the last Dev Update that Clash would be run less often.

  • Your Shop will return in Patch 25.6 and the Blue Essence Emporium will return in Patch 25.7.

  • Full details about these changes can be found in the accompanying blog that released today.

  • The team concluded the Dev Update with the following message for players:

    • “Now, as we wrap up, we want to acknowledge that we know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments. We’ve always built League along with all you, the community. Thank you for sticking with us and hearing us out, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to make sure League is the best game it can be. Thanks so much, and we’ll see you on the Rift.”
