Today, ROOT Gaming announced on Twitter that Mackenzie "Petraeus" Smith had left their organization. With his contract and U.S. Visa ending in addition to moving to Europe, it seemed only logical that he would leave the American team. However, the split was on good terms, with both parties seeming like they were grateful for the time spent together.

ROOT Gaming's full statement on Twitter was as follows:

Today we part ways with @ROOTPetraeus as his contract recently ended. We had great times together, and will continue to cheer for him in EU.

Petraeus has yet to announce where he will be heading next but one can make a good guess as to where he'll end up. After performing great in the WCS European qualifiers, expect to see Petraeus get picked up by a European team.
