The following day (the 21st), it was announced that the SoloMid Corporation, owned by well-known former League of Legends professional player Andy “Reginald” Dinh, had decided the previous evening to part ways with their Darkness Challenger Series team. Like his peers, Andy also went on to condemn the t3azer’s actions of leaking scrim film. Additionally, SoloMid Corporation stated that they would not have further relations with the team in the future.
The plot thickened, however, as theScore eSports reported that three of the players, specifically Lyonel “Arcsecond” Pfaender, Ryan “Big Ol Ron” Ballard, & Paul “Indivisible” Nguyen, claim that they are pursuing legal action against the SoloMid Corporation; specifically, they claim that SoloMid Corporation, “wrongfully terminated contracts with the players, did not fulfill services agreed upon in the contract, as well as a number of violations of clauses depicted in the contract.” The players did not care to specify to theScore the alleged breaches of the contract and theScore has not confirmed the validity of the claims.
SoloMid Corporation has reached out to Esports Heaven and has thoroughly outlined the situation. According to SoloMid, the players were notified on the evening of the initial report (on Esports Heaven) that SoloMid would be terminating their contracts within 30 days (as stated by their contract with the players). They also stated that the players had been compensated in advance for the full month of April. SoloMid explained that they told the players they were no longer interested in the players providing their service and that their intentions were to not work with the players any longer.
SoloMid Corporation owner, Andy “Reginald” Dinh had this to say to Esports Heaven:
“We notified the players on March 20th that we would be terminating our agreement. According to our contract, we are required to give 30 days notice. We requested that they no longer provided services and also prepaid the players in advance up until the termination date. (April 21st).”
