With big moves going off left and right, Fnatic were obviously feeling a bit left-out this week, and today made an announcement to rectify that situation. Former Fnatic AD Carry Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson has returned from his stint as an Elements player having spent the Spring Split with that team, and looks to have come back with one aim in mind, namely becoming a world champion in a Fnatic shirt.
Already a European powerhouse, Fnatic have undergone a team restructure with the aim of going from regional champions to potentially reaching the top of the world game. Previous AD Carry Pierre ‘Steeelback’ Medjaldi is relegated to reserve with the return of Rekkles to the squad, and it is fair to say that although the team are publicly thankful for his contribution, it has been a challenging time for the young marksman.
Whether this move is enough to take Fnatic from the top of the EU scene into the world elite only time will tell, but their new signing has all the ambition and clearly believes in this squad. “Today I’m very pleased to announce that I’m returning to Fnatic, the organisation where I started my professional career, and where I now return with the ambition to fulfil my and the team’s goal: to win a World Championship”, he told the Fnatic press team.
Rekkles went on to thank Elements for the opportunity, and also touched on the possible problems of returning to your old stomping ground, but said the move eventually felt like ‘coming home’ to him, so it is easy to see why he made it. Fans looking for more information should keep an eye out for his upcoming Reddit AMA, and look forward to seeing him in a Fnatic shirt once more come summer split.
