Krepo becomes caster for EU LCS

Transfer news dominates the off-season in League, this much we know, but for fans of the game there was a move made today that could be universally positive regardless of your team affiliation. Mitch ‘Krepo’ Voorspoels, the Belgian LoL star, was announced today as the latest addition to the EU League Championship Series casting team for the start of the Summer 2015 split, news that was met with an overwhelmingly positive response by the fans on Reddit.

Formerly a support on Evil Geniuses, CLG and Elements, Krepo is one of the more famous players to have already made some strides in the world of LoL broadcasting, having appeared as a analyst on a number of LCS broadcasts, and his promotion to shoutcaster is the natural next step. It is fair to say fans are pleased with the move, some going as far as to call it ‘amazing’ or the ‘best day ever’, and it will be interesting to see how Krepo adjusts to the new role starting on 28th May, when he will make his first broadcast as a full-timer.

"It's been a few weeks now since I've announced my retirement and I've had no regrets since,” Krepo said in an official statement. “Part of me will always miss the stage but I think it was the perfect timing for me to move on to the next challenge and hopefully start building a long term career." In the long-term it will remain to be seen how successfully Krepo can make the transition from competitor to shoutcaster without potentially risking losing his credibility as a player, but this is a move that will boost the short-term popularity of the game and broadcasts without doubt.

Krepo will begin his casting on Thursday at 9am PST/6pm CEST for the EU LCS Summer split's kickoff.
