Strong rumours today are connecting Winterfox, the NACS and HCS team, with a move into Super Smash Bros Melee, and specifically for former Doc Mario and current Sheik main Dajuan ‘Shroomed’ Jefferson McDaniel. After some research, ESportsHeaven can confirm the move will be announced tomorrow, and that it will be Shroomed joining up just in time for Evo. Formed following the rebranding of Evil Genius’s League of Legend squad, Winterfox are a part of the Good Game Agency (GGA), and the expansion into Smash was initially announced by a cryptic message on their Twitter account.

Ever eagle-eyed, Smashers were quick to note a reference to ‘gods’ and the term ‘vanish’ in the tweet, leading to much speculation about the possibility of a Sheik player joining the team with ‘gods’ suggesting it is going to be a Melee player. Hints from other pro players were circulating that Shroomed was the player in question, but most expected that we'd have to wait until tomorrow to be 100% sure of the move. However, a bit of digging confirmed that Shroomed has been in contact with the team and has already agreed a deal to join.

While there is still room for change, we expect to see another top player with a sponsor in front of their name by the time Evo is upon us, and one who certainly deserves their chance at the big time, with a big team. It is also another step toward Smash becoming a top eSports in it's own right with bigger teams moving into the scene, and is a sign of the progress the game has made over the last twelve months. The move was made possible by a connection between the Daily Dot and the Winterfox team.
