Did This Overwatch League Team Bench Their Coach Mid-Tournament?

While the Overwatch League may have closed its doors, the stories continue to flood out. Did an Overwatch League team bench their coach during the middle of a tournament? Prior to the start of the 2023 Overwatch League season, the Boston Uprising came under fire for scrimmages being cancelled or ended early. This led the community to assume the roster, full of veterans, to have internal issues behind the scenes.  With allegations of benching their coach mid-tournament, perhaps the people had the right idea. The story was shared on a podcast featuring Overwatch League coaching talent like Christopher "ChrisTFer" Graham, Xavier "CommanderX" Hardy, Max "Unter" Unterwurzacher, and Blake "Gator" Scott. It was alleged that during the Mid-Season Madness, the Overwatch League's mid-season international tournament, the Boston Uprising "banded together" and effectively benched their head coach mid-tournament.  "They were like 'You're done. We're kicking you,'" Gator alleged.  "The players literally kicked him off the team. They were like 'We're done with you, don't come back. Don't come in our room." "I remember this specifically because he came over to [Atlanta's room]. We had the room around the corner and he asked to talk to [Kim "WizardHyeong" Hyeong-seok]. "And Wizard was like 'I don't know him bro, why does he want to talk to me?'" "And I was like 'Alright, just go talk to him. No big deal, whatever.'" "Wizard comes back and he's like 'Oh my god. They dude just came to me asking for advice, he didn't even--that guy is lost. That guy is lost in the world. His team just turned on him.'" Gator further explains that this incident also happened on the day of their match. It is unclear which match during the 2023 Mid-Season Madness this was.  He continues claiming that former Boston Uprising players Shin "Kalios" Wooyul and Kwon "Striker" Nam-joo "ran the dugout" for their match.  The players were allegedly picking the maps as well as the substitutes, Gator claimed.  That said, the Boston Uprising are no stranger to dramatics like this.  During the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, VP Esports reported that the aforementioned duo were upset with the conditions on the team. Kailos was alleged to "frequently disrupt practice and berate the coaching staff". Whereas Striker would leave the practice room during a practice block, break computer peripherals, and later request to be transferred to a different team.  The management was not removed from questionable practices. The report claims that both the attitude of the staff as well as the housing situation for players was inadequate. The Boston Uprising finished 4th at the 2023 Overwatch League Mid-Season Madness losing to the Houston Outlaws and the Florida Mayhem. Since the closing of the Overwatch League, the franchise has released all of its players except for stars Yoo "smurf" Myeong-hwan and Jang "Decay" Guiwoon.
