100 Thieves got a 2-0 weekend during Week 6, as they beat Counter Logic Gaming and Clutch Gaming. The team is looking to be one of the stronger teams within the NA LCS, as they’re tied for first place against Team Liquid and eyeing another run at the trophy this split. Esports Heaven got the chance to speak with the 100T top laner Ssumday about their win against CG, criticism for ignoring side lanes, AnDa’s play style differing from Meteos’ and certain champion matchups which he has shown stellar performances on. You just had the longest game this split against Clutch Gaming. Spring Split you also had the record for longest game…against CG! Playoffs you had the longest game…against CG! So, what is it about CG that takes so long for either team to win? Usually CG plays slower champions and their play style is slow. I was thinking that today would be a long game as well, but I didn’t think it would be like this (laughs). It seems like whenever 100 Thieves and Clutch Gaming play against each other, both teams go down mid lane the entire time. That’s been one of the biggest criticisms for 100T, in that 100T ignores the side lanes, they ignore side lane waves. Do you feel that way too? That your team is too focused on mid lane pressure? No, it’s just CG are playing that way. They want to play around there, so we knew their plan and we just made the play and reacted good. If we leave mid, we lose a lot of pressure and they would have used Tahm Kench ult to catch us in the side lanes. That actually makes a lot of sense that they can take advantage of the side lanes with the Tahm Kench ult. In other news. You’ve been getting a lot more carries in the draft. Are you comfortable with this new meta? Are you comfortable playing the carry style for your team? Yeah, I’m comfortable playing them. Our team is improving a lot so it has more impact. What do you think of AnDa as your new jungler? Do you think he’s growing into the jungle role within your team? He’s doing well, actually more than what I expected. His personality is pretty quiet and I’m quiet too, so top side is kind of silent, but sometimes we miscommunicate because we don’t talk a lot and even if we don’t talk a lot, we’re on the same page. So, it’s fine. How is he different from Meteos and his style? Meteos is usually doing what he wants to do, but sometimes he follows other people’s calls but he should actually be doing the selfish play, but he gives that play up in order to help his laners. Sometimes this can be bad but he’s always trying to think about what’s best for the team. 100 Thieves have been playing a lot of GP and you just played the GP versus Gnar matchup. What’s the hardest thing and easiest thing about this matchup? Early game has GP priority and he can ult somewhere at level 6, but after turret is down and after one core item, Gnar can flank GP and solo kill him. So, GP has to play safer and Gnar can play aggressive. Although, during team fights, Gnar is harder to function within the fights than GP because of Mega Gnar and the timing associated with it. What about the Mundo versus GP matchup? You’ve done this one a lot too and you have done really well on both sides of the matchup and people say that GP is this soft counter to Mundo, so what’s the hardest thing and easiest thing about this matchup? This matchup is kind of 50/50. GP has the early game pressure and push, but after level 6 Mundo can look for the all-in and can solo kill. If the GP didn’t play the lane better and either got ganked or just played the lane worse, Mundo can beat him. You played really well this game. Do you have anything to say about how your team is playing currently? We’re playing really well right now and we’re improving a lot, but we’re still looking for anything to keep progressing.
