Today marks the official end to the first week following Valorant’s launch. Riot Games unveiled a new VALORANT agent, Reyna, which launched on June 2 alongside the launch of VALORANT. Centered on social media teasers and previews, the Mexican hero appears to have exceptional powers.
Reyna's Abilities:
Reyna’s abilities depend on her ability to get kills. If she fails in acquiring eliminations, she won’t be able to capitalize on most of her abilities and they won’t be of a lethal efficacy. These are her abilities:
Dismiss
Devour
Signature Ability: Leer
Ultimate Ability: Empress
Now that we know her abilities here’s a guide on how and when to use them to ensure that their usage is worth it.
Dismiss:
Consume a killed enemy's life-force to become invisible and invulnerable for a short time. If you're close to your enemies and need to retreat — use Dismiss. With Devour you can either restore your health and continue fighting, repositioning, or run away with Dismiss altogether. For a short period, it makes you invulnerable, enabling you to bid time and wait for your fellow players to back you up. Dismiss can be used to flank your opponents or to retreat from the battlefield when gunfights aren’t particularly in your favor. The video portrays how fatal this ability could be following gunfights.
Devour:
Reyna can score a kill. It consumes an orb, restores your health, and gives you some extra armor. Most of the agents have to play slow and sit back after a gunfight, but Reyna is the opposite. Once she starts killing, she's unstoppable. Reyna needs to kill to thrive, and Devour is what keeps her alive.
When Reyna kills an opponent, a Soul Orb will be dropped in which she has just three seconds to grab. Devour will be the first basic ability that when Reyna collects adequate orbs, health will be fully restored with +50 armor.
Leer:
In-game image of Reyna's Signature Ability: Leer
It is her signature feature, and it offers an effect that can blind opponents similar to a "flash-bang". Even though other characters have similar abilities, what makes Leer different is that Reyna and her teammates won't be affected. It can be used in either offensive or defensive situations, but be wise to position the eye. An enemy can disable the effect in a single shot. In its usage, it is somewhat similar to Breach’s flashpoint or Omen’s Paranoia.
All enemies on the map will be affected by this ability. This ability can breach through the walls and can be placed at any angle, and it can also be suspended in the air. It has its drawbacks, as it can be mitigated by a quick shot to the eye. Yet when utilized correctly, it has destructive results.
Reyna should put Leer out, and aim quickly. When the opponents are in the area and Leer is in their sight, they'll be distracted for a few seconds. This gives you the chance to find a quick and easy way to eliminate your enemies. Using leer near a bomb site will be of great help in its capture.
Empress:
Empress injects Reyna with blood lust, gives her a quickfire, activates and improves her optional abilities, and makes it easier for enemies to see for a short time. Once she acquires a kill successfully, the timer of this ability resets allowing her to continue the purge.
Getting a single kill will build up the momentum and opponents will keep falling one by one. Using Empress at the right time is crucial. The optimal time to use Empress is right before entering a gunfight or a 1v1 situation. Doing so will ensure that the ability is if Reyna manages to eliminate the opponent.
Reyna is expected to perform at her best in the possession of committed players with a strong aim. She excels in extended team fights where she can use her invisibility, invulnerability, and healing to remain in combat. Her abilities are reliant on the number of kills she can obtain, but her vampiric abilities can easily turn the tables of a match. All in all, her traits fall under the criteria of a duelist, agents always on the front line of battles.
