Tekken 8 came out recently, but the meta has already started developing, with people weighing-in on who are the top 5 characters. Here is what the GOAT of Tekken 7 and the GOAT of the franchise had to say in a recent conversation with Hassan "Spag" Farooq, a fighting games commentator.  

Arslan Ash's Top 5 Characters in Tekken 8

  Fresh off an incredibly dominant run in Tekken 7, Arslan "Arslan Ash" Siddique is the guy to listen to and watch when it comes to this franchise now. The victor of the Tekken World Tour 2023 Global Finals already has a mostly complete top 5 for this initial phase of Tekken 8. It is as follows:

• Feng Wei
• Sergei Dragunov
• Devil Jin
• Ling Xiaoyu (tentative)
• Jun Kazama

Arslan did not seem to order his list, and wasn't sure about keeping Xiaoyu in there, although he said that she is for sure top 10. He also added that Jun "is broken".  

Knee's Top 5

  Widely considered the GOAT of Tekken, Bae "Knee" Jae-Min is still seen as Arslan's most direct rivel. Despite not having has much of an impact on Tekken 7 as his Pakistani counterpart, the South Korean legend is still seen as a mentor to many. He seemed a lot more confident on his Top 5 than Arslan:

• Devil Jin
• Azucena
• Sergei Dragunov
• Feng Wei
• Ling Xiaoyu

Like Arslan, Knee seemed to have some doubts in placing Xiaoyu in the top 5, but he felt that she was really strong. He also didn't rank his picks in any specific order.  

A Decisive Top 3 From The GOATS

  It is quite difficult to make tier-lists and top Xs for any fighting game, especially one with 35 characters which came out a month ago. A lot of it comes down to personal experience, subjective readings on the game, etc.   With this in mind, it is interesting to note that, despite both of them being doubtful about Ling Xiaoyu, and disagreeing when it comes to Azucena and Jun, Knee and Arslan were in agreement when it comes to the three strongest characters in the game. They are:

• Devil Jin
• Sergei Dragunov
• Feng Wei

Dragunov has already started making waves in Tekken 8 at the Genesis X tournament, being used by both the first and third place finishers. Devil Jin and Feng didn't make an appearance in the entire Top 8,  but we'll likely see a lot from them as more tournaments take place. Do you agree with Arslan Ash and Knee?
