G2 would probably be considered the only upset here and succeeded in living up to the value of their scrim-bucks. They convincingly took down the LCK's 4th seed despite some hiccups along the way. BDS showed some flair against JDG and FNC had some moments against LNG, but the LPL teams got both games under control with ease. T1, on the other hand, saw their first BO1 at Worlds nearly stolen away by a god-tier performance from reigning and former World Champions in Pyosik and CoreJJ. Perhaps the NA skill vampires really can't enter South Korea. WBG, GEN and C9 demolished their opposition, not much to be said about those matches. The best game of the day was the last, a 45min epic duel to finish the first round with a bang. BLG emerged victorious in the end, with GigaBin making a return due to his International Tournament buff. The Chinese top laner made the recent K'Sante nerfs seem more than justified and put the best top the LCK has to offer in the bin. Despite Aiming's best efforts on his insane Kai'sa, BLG took the win and ensured the LPL 4-0 day.Image via Riot Games
The randomized draws with no rules apart from the first round are exposed literally are the end of the first day. To put it into perspective, here are the civil wars that we'll play out in day two:Image via X
This means that Day three could be filled with rematches, more civil wars and the only person who has any control over it is the random referee pulling tiny strips of paper out of the sixteen pouches.Image via LoLEsports
