Optic Gaming have stormed their way into the Call of Duty Championships in Los Angeles, beating out Denial eSports in the grand finals of the North American Call of Duty Regionals. At the MLG Columbus arena, Optic Gaming made their way through three long days of competition, losing only a single map during the long weekend.

Optic Gaming started the finals day off against FaZe Red, which include 19 time champion and 2014 World Champion, Patrick "ACHES" Price. In a match that included their only map loss of the tournament, Optic still managed to knock the former World Champion's team to the final's loser's bracket where they would lose to Denial.

The surprise of the tournament was Optic's second team, Optic Nation, who struggled through a string of poor online results to come back during the LAN finals. Another team with a World Champion, Damon "Karma" Barlow, Nation showed that they do have what it takes to be champions, with a solid fourth place run through the tournament.

The fourteen North American teams in the Call of Duty World Champions are: 3sUP Enterprises, Automatic Reload, Below Zero, Denial Esports, FaZe Black, FaZe Red, Optic Gaming, Optic Nation, Orbit.NA, Prophecy, Team EnVy, Team Kaliber, Team Revenge and Strictly Business.

Last years championship team came from North America, as Complexity Gaming's miracle run of tournament victories continued through the World Championships. While the players that made up that squad won't be competing together, they will each be competing on different teams. ACHES will be playing for FaZe Red, Tyler "TeePee" Polchow and Karma for Optic Nation and Ian "Crimsix" Porter for new North American champions, Optic Gaming. All four of these players made the top four in the Regionals.

The World Championships will take place from March 27 to March 29.
