As one of the newly qualified LCS teams, Team Coast has had quite the rough time so far this split. Only able to take a game off of Winterfox, the team currently holds a record of 1-7, being 10th (last) place within the League. Some of the players within the team have underperformed, and thus roster changes are being made, sources close to the organization told EsportsHeaven.
Specifically, Coast took a gamble with their Europeans imports, jungler Matt “Impaler” Taylor and mid laner Jesse “Jesiz” Le, in light of the Expansion Tournament this past winter. However, Taylor performed extremely well and led the team to victory on many occasions. The same can’t be said for Le, though. The mid laner was heavily criticized for his small champion pool before being removed from SK Gaming post-Worlds this past year. Unfortunately, Coast wanted Taylor -- and to get him, he asked that Le be brought along.
This criticism for Le has held somewhat true and the player has not been performing well versus his opposition in North America. This weekend was the straw that broke the camel’s back as he unperformed heavily versus Counter Logic Gaming mid laner Austin “Link” Shin & Team Impulse mid laner Yu "XiaoWeiXiao" Xian.
Sources close to the organization and the contender have reported to EsportsHeaven that Le has allegedly been benched and will not be playing with the team in the upcoming week. Sources also say that none other than former Vulcun/XDG mid laner Zachary "Mancloud" Allan Hoschar will be replacing him. Allan Hoschar is currently the mid laner for Challenger team Storm, but due to his team failing to qualify for the North American Challenger Series, it could be likely that the move to Coast may be permanent. Sources are not aware of how long the duration of the alleged benching may be.
EsportsHeaven has reached out to Coast with no response currently; however, we spoke with Impaler and he declined to comment on the situation at the moment.
