On the tophalf of the bracket, a Korean team is guaranteed to get eliminated as KT Rolster vs. KOO Tigers presents a KR vs. KR matchup between the second and third teams of the region. Fnatic will be facing off against Edward Gaming where Deft and Rekkles meet on the battlefield once more. While Fnatic went undefeated in their regular season and only dropped two games in the summer playoffs, they've shown certain vulnerabilities in the group stage. Meanwhile, EDG looks as though they don't maintain their strength from domestic results.
The second half of the bracket features an arguably easy matchup for Origen, but Flash Wolves have shown that they can play to the level of their opponents. Origen barely wasn't capable of topping group D, and oftentimes looked more powerful than Fnatic as Europe's representative. Still, the matchup could go either way.
SKT and ahq round out the bracket in a severely uphill battle for ahq. While the Taiwanese squad looked to rival Fnatic in terms of strength, who seems to rival the skill of other Korean teams, SKT seems a tier ahead of other teams at the tournament and have a lot of data go off of.
The broadcast for the quarterfinals begins on Thursday at 9:00 AM CST.
